"NO KILL"ACTIVISTS PLAN TO PROTEST DEVORE ANIMAL SHELTER DESPITE POSITIVE LIFESAVING EFFORTS BY DEVORE

The “No-Kill" Activists have launched yet another attack on the County’s Devore Animal Shelter.  Even though the County’s animal shelters in Devore, Big Bear Lake and Dogs Day Inn pet boarding facility in Apple Valley ranked # 4 in the County for positive live release outcomes for pets (see below chart) the “activists” have scheduled a protest at the Devore Animal Shelter.  Eight other animal shelters in San Bernardino County had higher euthanasia rates last year, but are the “activists” protesting those “High Kill” shelters?  No!  The eight other shelters “Kill” more animals by percentage than Devore and the San Bernardino City Animal Shelter killed almost twice as many animals than the County’s three shelters combined.

This is a special note to the elected officials in San Bernardino County.  No matter how hard you work to save animal lives; No matter how much money you spend to create positive outcomes for animals; the “No-Kill Activists” will still picket and protest your facilities even when you rank # 4 out of twelve shelters that serve the County.
It is obvious the “No-Kill" activists could care less about the number of animals euthanized or killed.  If they truly were concerned about high euthanasia or kill rates, they would picket a high kill shelter.  The County’s animal shelters are actually below the national average of an estimated 50% euthanasia rate and last year the County’s euthanasia rate was 45.15% for the three shelters they operate or partially manage.  It is clear the “activists” only want to see the County’s euthanasia rates increase, this is why they have selected a shelter with one of the lowest euthanasia rates in the County to picket.  Run off the adopters and discourage adoptions and you will see the euthanasia rates rise.  This is why the “activists” elected to not support the County’s participation in the ASPCA 100K Challenge.  They have also elected to not support the County’s 1st Mega Pet Adoption Event.  Not one mention of the Homeward Bound Mega Pet Adoption Event is listed on any of the “activist’s” websites.  Again, they only want to promote their propaganda and senseless agenda.

We have requested the below public records to forward this summary to all of the local media outlets.  This way the news reporters will be able to ask the critical questions, “Why are you picketing a shelter that has a high adoption rate and low euthanasia rate?”  “Do you want to see more animals euthanized or killed by picketing the shelter and discouraging adopting families from coming to this facility to adopt a new pet companion?”  “Why target a facility that is out performing the national average and is adopting more animals than the majority of shelters in San Bernardino County?”

Let them try to explain to the reporters why they are after Devore when there so many more deserving shelters for their attention. They have yet to answer the challenge for that answer.

  1. My personal thought - if the "activists" really cared and wanted to engage in helpful actions that would make a positive difference, they would sponsor no or low cost spay-neuter clinics.

Having a protest that draws media attention is the best thing that these "No Kill activists" could do. If the reporter writes the truth and the facts, the public has a wonderful opportunity to be educated.

Thank you again. I hope your steadfastness to printing the truth is causing the public to seriously consider what they are reading on social network sites and what is bantered about by rumor mongers.

  2. I personally know that this is the reason why the local media totally discounts the “activists” claims. These self-centered individuals continue to spread lies, distort factual information, and attempt to slander those organizations who are actually out-performing others. This pattern of erratic and unstable behavior on behalf of the “activists” is well known and that is the reason no one listens to their rants and tirades. Their protest will be another useless effort that only further discredits them and their “No-Kill” movement.

  3. Their own worse enemies as I like to say. Derry is a fool for riding with them, he will be pegged by the general public as subscribing to a cultist movement.

  4. Having been to both County shelter in Devore and the City of San Bernardino shelter, why are they protesting Devore. The city shelter is falling apart. The city vaccinates dogs and cats only when adopted. Devore vaccinates upon entering the shelter. The city is soliciting for cleaning supplies (bleach). Devore has a chemical they use to clean with (I saw the sprayers and asked while I was there). Devore gives a free microchip for the adopted animals. San Bernardino City, well if they cannot afford cleaning supplies, do you think they can afford microchips?
My point is, the City of San Bernardino shelter, while having a much higher killing rate (based upon the chart in the posting), needs to have the light of the media shined on it and then maybe they could afford to make some very needed improvements.

  5. Why is a good question, I know one answer. It isn't because they care about the animals in Devore, if they did they wouldn't be doing this. It's an agenda of a little fat man and they are his pawns.

Better yet, ask Derry why he is falling in with these low lifers.

  6. hey, maybe supervisor Neil "Hitler" Derry will be at this protest, leading the goose step (see other topic about Supervisor Derry. Then you will understand.)

And @ Derry, you are a convicted criminal and now with comments like you have reported to have made, you will some be hopefully be out of office. Just remember, we live in your district, not the no kill activists, like out of all of the out of county people who addressed the board before.

  7. There were protests at Miami-Dade Animal Services and a director resigned. Animals still die today. There were protests at Memphis Animal Services and a director resigned. Animals still die today. The protest should be about saving animals. Embrace the public by getting them into Devore to get the animals out.

  8. It's been more than just those two cities - the NKers have done this at numerous ACs across the nation - and their end goal is to get the director fired - and get one of their people hired in to the position. It's happened enough, and continues to happen, that it is obviously part of their evil agenda.

You can see just a few of them at this blog:

  9. Yes, the nokillexposed blog is excellent, I recommend it to anyone who seeks the truth about "No Kill". These "activists" have now shown their hand, their true intentions, to take over the shelter for "No Kill". They weren't there to encourage the public to come in and adopt. And anything less than that is a sure fire way to get more animals euthanized. That is their true agenda, to make the euthanization rate rise from terrorizing the public from adopting at the "cruel" shelter. Then they can cry all the way to a dork like Derry about how the shelter kills, when in reality they are the ones doing the killing.

  10. Can you please put the stats for Devore and Inland Valley (Pomona) so we can have clearer perspectives?

    ReplyDelete
  11. No, not for you Matt Munson, famed follower of Sharon Gilbert. You can do like I do and request public records. But keep in mind that Inland Valley is not in San Bernardino and you will have to request separately from LA County. Plus you wouldn't believe it anyway probably unless it comes from the mouth of your leader.

Just what do you think you could prove anyway? Why not ask these activists to prove what they say? Thus far, they have failed to present any proof. At the BOS meeting, one said she had proof but not enough time to present it. Yeah, right, and my shit don't stink either.

Get it yourself, I'm not helping you.

  13. IVHS has contracts for animal control services for Chino and Chino Hills which is part of San Bernardino County. As a resident of the west end of San Bernardino County, I would be interested in learning how IVHS compares to the other shelters in the county.

  14. Good for you, FA. I've seen Munson's remarks about Devore and he is as ignorant as they come about Devore. Another "follow them blindly" person who lives for every word that comes from Gilbert's distorted perceptions of the truth. Does Munson know that Gilbert was breaking the law with being over limits with her dogs when she tried to kill herself for the second time? Does he know how Devore tried to work with her to get her dogs out and the additional time they spent there while Devore was being nice? Does he know how many other dogs had to die to keep Gilbert's dogs safe? I doubt it.

  15. Anon:14 IVHS is a private shelter that the county contracts with. You will have to get your own information, I am not concerned with IVHS, I am concerned with Devore. You can always request via public records for the Annual Report of Local Rabies Control Activities for IVHS. They have to file one for San Bernardino and for LA County.

I am not here to do research.

  16. The lower the income rate in any given town the higher the kill rate at those local shelters. People in those areas dump animals by the dozens every hour. I wonder if they know that their animal will mostly likely die within 5 to 7 days of being dumped. You should see the lame excuses these people give the shelter noted on the paperwork as to why they dumped their animals. Disgusting!!
