EMMET, A PUPPY KILLED BY THE DEVORE TERRORISTS

This is another story/distortion by the terrorists about a puppy named Emmet. Now the real story before you read their version is this.

The dog was admitted to the Devore Animal Shelter from the City of Rialto on July 26, 2012.  The dog was available for adoption or rescue on July 31, 2012.  A rescue organization requested that a hold be placed on the dog until the close of business on August 3, 2012, and the rescuer stated they would receive the dog on the 3rd.  Since the rescuer failed to pick-up the dog, and the dog developed signs of illness, the dog was euthanized on the following day August 4th due to lack of space at the shelter and the fact the dog had become ill and the rescuer failed to claim the dog they had requested.

Devore attempted to work with this "rescuer" by extending the mandatory hold period.

Once again, the "rescuer" was using Devore for a private boarding kennel. And to top it all off, the "rescuer" was there filming the video probably. And when was told it was going to the euthanasia room, why didn't this person doing the video stand up and take the dog? Because the purpose of all of this is not to save animals, it is to condemn Devore.

Shades of Zephyr in Carson. That was a case of a dog being placed on hold for almost a month. All the while this dog was on hold, other dogs had to die to hold that space. The night that Zephyr died, the "rescuer" that had the hold was there, she took a picture of a very sick dog. Yet she left Zephyr, walked away. When questioned by a reporter as to why she didn't take Zephyr when she made the picture, she responded that her vet was already closed. Duh, there are emergency clinics on every corner in LA. This case is no different.

This is the story of Emmet as told on Facebook.
Denise LarkinIn memory of Emmet - a puppy killed yesterday at Devore - MURDERERS AT DEVORE KILLED THIS PUPPY BECAUSE HE HAD KENNEL COUGH. HE WAS A WONDERFUL PUPPY, DIDN'T BOTHER ANYONE, AND HE WAS KILLED YESTERDAY AT COB BECAUSE NO ONE CAME 4 HIM.
This video is impossible to watch but important to see. Today someone was at Devore taking photos and video of the dogs in an effort to help them. When she went to visit Emmet, just a puppy at 8 months old, he didn't want to come out of the cubby. With her camera running and by tossing delicious treats she tried to coax Emmet out. Suddenly from the back of the kennel you see an officer walk in with a leash and Emmet jumps up and happily leaves with the ACO. The person who shot the video ran around to the back of the kennels and chased down the officer (all this is on video) only to find out he was taking Emmet, tail wagging, to the back to be killed because the puppy had kennel cough. If this doesn't break your heart (I can't stop crying) and spur you to action I don't know what will. In Emmet's memory please work a little harder to save the dogs on death row. Know that when I post that an animal only has today...it is not an idle threat...it is a sad reality. Only we can save these desperate lives. Don't look away, don't turn your back. For Emmet...save a life. R.I.P. sweet puppy. Here's the video (have tissue handy):http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y3rgXyywKIs&feature=youtube_gdata_player
Now I don't where this woman gets off saying the dog was jumping and happy, I see a very sick dog in that video. Had the original "rescuer" taken the dog when it came off of owner hold, maybe Emmet would be alive today. Where was the "rescuer" because this video was the next day after the "rescuer" was told the last day she had to pick Emmet up.
If you don't want to shed tears, then do your job. Stop trying to kill other dogs in Devore with your holds. If you see a dog, go get it and stop jerking around. You're a lot more guilty about Emmet dying than Devore will ever be.

  1. Since the person who made the video is a "rescue" person, why didn't they offer to take the dog for adoption?

  2. Why didn't the "rescue" who put the extra hold on the dog come and get the dog?

    1. Because they are looking for these types of stories so they can further their agenda, they aren't trying to save animals. They want them to die so they can make up a story, collect chip ins and then don't have to spend that money on any dog, just put it in their pockets. Money making racket is all it is.

  3. Why does the YouTube commenter criticize the shelter, when it was a fellow "rescuer" who did not follow through on his/her commitment to pick up the dog?

  4. Multitalented. Several of the people who commented on the YouTube video can diagnose kennel cough just from looking at a video of a dog!

I thought only veterinarians could diagnose disease and prescribe medication. How many other alignments are being diagnosed/misdiagnosed and treated without a professional diagnosis.

    1. Reminds me of the incident in Rancho where the foster diagnosed and medicated a litter of kittens. They all died. We begged for charges to be filed, we had vet reports etc., but nothing. So this foster, under the supervision of H.O.P.E. by the way, is allowed to continue in her ways of being a part time vet.

  5. The point is: a "rescue" put an extra hold on the dog. The "rescue" did not pick up the dog.
The "rescue" did not act responsibly by carrying through on their commitment to pick up the dog.

  6. Question: Did the "rescue" use the shelter as their private boarding kennel because they had no where to house this dog? I bet this happens more than once...

  7. Adoption alone can not solve the problem of having to euthanize animals. In fact, by "adopting" out all these animals without any concern for the quality of their life, compounds the problem.

Quality adoptions, affordable spay/neuter, financial assistance programs, education and training will help solve the problem.

  8. I called Devore and found out that the 'rescuers' email lists to the shelter every day, requesting hold be extended. When I asked how many are on these 'lists', I was told some of these lists are basically cut and past copies from the Devore website. I guess they figure they can force Devore to become no-kill by manipulation. What the no-killers don't realize is that THEY, THE NO-KILLERS, are causing the over crowding in the shelter, disease to be spread more rapidly, the dogs to fight with each other due to the stress caused by too many animals, yet the shelter continues to try to work with these 'rescuers'.

To the Devore Staff, continue doing what is in the animals best interest and don't let the terrorist get to you. You do have supporters.

  9. Rescuers are not the problem. Most of these people are just soft hearted and hate to see any mammal killed. To blame them for over crowding is ridiculous at best and slanderous at worst. Over crowding is caused by people not spaying and neutering their pets. It is caused by the guy who thinks neutering bruno will make him less of a manly dog..by the woman who thinks winky is just the sweetest cutest cat ever and wouldn't her kittens be darling and by the well meaning owner who is going to get around to it only to find out it's too late..or by the owners of the male animals who aren't worried since the kitten/puppies won't be their problem. The fighting between the shelters and the rescuers has to end. We are in this together. No one wants to see another animal killed because there just wasn't room. Stop picking at each other and double your efforts to get everyone but the most responsible of the breeders to spay and neuter.

    1. Don't come here preaching about working together. Read the blog, do you think that these terrorists want to work with anyone? NO, they have an agenda and that does not include being rational and cooperative. There's no fight with true rescuers. Look at what these Devore terrorists have done, terrible things to animals, they are not rescuers. Rescuers do understand and they work with the shelters. This isn't between rescue and Devore, this is between terrorists and Devore, there is a difference.
